The first stage of Piaget’s stages of cognitive developmental, taking place from ages 0-2 years old. Circular reactions and object permanence are seen during this stage.
Once a child develops object permanence they have ended this stage – an example of object permanence is the game peekaboo, where a child believes an object is no longer there when it is hidden and out of sight.
